Early American Pyrex - not everyone's favorite but I seem to be obsessed with the 400 set!
Someone on my Pyrex Facebook site posted a picture of the 400 set and I was hooked! Had to have the set. Found one on an obscure for sale site - $120! Plus shipping! Yikes.... I could buy 12 bottles of $10 wine for that....my other obsession...wine.....
Of course, the 404 of the set is a bit hard to find, I was told. The other 3 are not a problem. That made it even better to obsess over.
On a Pyrex hunting trip to Branson, MO, my hubby and I were in Ozark, MO and what do I see but the 400 series EA sitting on a shelf calling my name. Got the owner of the booth to sell it to me for $90 from the original price of $125. Eureka in Ozark, MO!
Months go by, I'm checking out Pyrex on etsy, a 404 pops up! $16! Yes, I'll take it! So I also find the other 3 for about that price plus shipping. Now I've pieced together another set for a lot less!
Walking around an antique shop in Spring, TX a couple of weeks ago and what do I see on a shelf? An EA 404! Maybe they're not quite as rare as I thought. Anyway, I scope it up, post it on my FB trade site and quickly trade it for some other Pyrex goodie I didn't think I could live one more minute without!
404 Early American - rare? Not sure but I seem to have a radar for that one right now.
If only I could be as lucky with the 404 Shenandoah!
Oh, well, it's on! The hunt for yet another "rare" piece of Pyrex.
